Council Activities

Our council hosts a large number of activities throughout the year. At left, the Knight's dedicate the new parish flag poles in 2003.

Also, there is an article in The Rose from 2003 on the new council.

Awards given or received.

Here are a few other local events in which the Knights of Council 12720 are involved or have participated:

Council Meetings

The general Council meeting is held on the first Thursday of the month. The Officers meeting is held on the 3rd Thursday. All Knights in good standing are encouraged to attend both meetings. (Other activities)

The State Convention

The state convention will be held at the Sheraton South in Colorado Springs from April 22 - April 24 of 2005.

Vocations Support

The Council promotes religious vocations as a top priority. In solidarity with our priests and bishops, the local members support seminarians from Pueblo who are called upon to give themselves entirely to the service of God's people through ordained ministry. Local support includes prayers, moral support via cards and letters, and a cash stipend to help defray personal expenditures.

Youth Activities

The Council supports an annual "Free Throw" event for young people in the Pueblo area. Top achievers then compete on state and national levels.

Pro-Life Support

The Knights of Columbus fervently supports Pro-Life, as does the Catholic Church. Council 12720 has advocated Pro-Life by supporting the local affiliates of internationally known organizations. Council 12720 created a grotto, on the church grounds, as a memorial to the unborn.

Donations to local charities

Throughout the year, Council 12720 donates monies in various amounts to local charities. Donations are the thrust of the Knights of Columbus as an Order. Here are some of the charitable programs of Council 12720:

  • Annual Blood Drive

  • Assist Local Seminarians during the holidays

  • Purchased and installed 3 flagpoles for the entrance to The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church.

  • Tootsie Roll Sales to support local charities (photo by Jim Pagano)

Meals and Banquets

Throughout the year, Council 12720 hosts various meals and banquets to raise money for local charities and/or to celebrate special events. Here are some of those events:

  • Knights Parish Functions

  • Breakfast last Sunday of the month

  • Family social every other month

  • K of C Fall Festival (October Festival)

As you can see, the Knights are actively involved in many charitable causes. Consider becoming a Knight today by contacting us through this site, or through your Catholic parish.
