"My
first knowledge of an acquaintance with the Knights
was in 1962 through my brother John who was a member of the
Paulus Hook Council in Jersey City. He told me of the many
wonderful works they do, of how the lived and supported
their Catholic faith and invited me to become a member.
I did join and as a member in Hudson, NY,
I came to love the Knights but especially their commitment
to the Church, their loyalty to their brothers and their
zeal for charity work. However, it would be as a Seminarian
that I became the recipient of financial aid from many
councils. The other Seminarians and I truly appreciated the
enormous support that they extended to us and they were
always there to help.
Today, at the parish (The Shrine of St.
Thérèse Catholic Church) we have the Knights and again I
value their support very much. They are a group who desires
to give witness to their faith and to work for the building
of a strong Catholic community in the parish. They are
active on many of the committees and volunteer to give of
their time and talent for the good of the paris h and the
community.
I would strongly urge Catholic men to join
the Knights of Columbus so that united in brotherly love
they may continue to witness the faith by supporting and
involving themselves in the wonderful and charitable works
of the Knights of Columbus."
I remain Yours in Christ,
Fr. Liam Courtney,
Pastor
