Hello All,
Welcome to the Parish Music section of the Shrine
website. I am Joe Chrisman, your director of music and liturgy.
Here is a little bit about myself. I am a Pueblo
native. I graduated from Centennial High School—which means
that the bell always rings red in my heart! I attended the
University of Northern Colorado where I studied Instrumental
Music Education. After my first year of college, I felt God
calling me in a different direction. I affiliated with the
Diocese of Pueblo as a seminarian and enrolled at Conception
Seminary College in northern Missouri. From there I received a
Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in philosophy and a
specialization in music. I went on to Saint Meinrad School of
Theology in southern Indiana for graduate studies. After two
years at St. Meinrad, I decided to formally leave seminary. I
received a Master of Theological Studies in May of 2008 from St.
Meinrad, and I am engaged to marry Katie Berger on October 4th
of this year.
I am no stranger to liturgical music. I began
accompanying church services at the age of 15. At Conception, I
was assistant to the music director, a principal accompanist,
and an adjunct piano teacher for MU 100. At St. Meinrad, I was
an accompanist, and a member of the music planning committee.
I am very pleased to be your director of music
and liturgy. I would like to encourage you all to sing with
gusto, as I firmly believe that together we can “make a joyful
noise unto the Lord.”
Peace,
Joe Chrisman
Effective 1 July 2010, Joe Chrisman became the liturgy
