Parish Music Days

In an effort to stimulate greater participation, I am starting Parish Music Days. This is a parish-wide evening of education and music rehearsal. The first Parish Music Day will be on Thursday, February 11, 2009 from 6:30 PM until about 8:00 PM. That evening we will go through some of the music for Lent and Easter so that we, as a parish, are better prepared to sing during these seasons. I will also go through some of the liturgical differences between Lent, Holy Week, and the Easter season. I know that one rehearsal is not sufficient to learn all the music for the holiest time of the Church year; however, my hope is that this rehearsal will somewhat familiarize us with the upcoming liturgies. Please come. I firmly believe that this time will be a benefit to all and help us really enter into the mystery of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord.

The Parish Music Day will begin with a prayer and a basic vocal warm up. We will then learn and rehearse music interspersed with some information about the music itself and its liturgical use. I encourage you all to take advantage of this opportunity!
