My name
is Sarah
Nelson,
and I
have
recently
taken
over the
DRE
position
as of
July 1,
2006.
A little
of my
history:
I grew
up in
Pueblo
and was
raised
in a
God-fearing
Protestant
household.
After I
graduated
from
High
School,
I moved
to
Denver
and
participated
in a
Protestant
Internship
program
for 3
years.
The
emphasis
of the
program
was
youth
ministry
and
mission
outreach,
similar
to the
Catholic
internship
program
called
NET.
During
my
internship,
I
started
to
question
some of
my
previously
held
Protestant
beliefs.
I
realized
that
there
was an
entire
portion
of
history
missing
in my
Protestant
beliefs:
namely,
what
happened
in
between
the end
of the
New
Testament
writings
of the
Bible
and the
time of
the
Reformation?
I
started
studying
any
Catholic
history
and
theological
books
that I
could
get my
hands
on. My
mother,
a
convert
herself,
handed
me a
Scott
Hahn
tape,
which
greatly
helped
me to
understand
the
mysteries
of our
Catholic
Faith.
After 3
years of
questioning,
studying
and
intense
soul
searching,
I “came
home” to
the
Church
in
2002.
Shortly
after my
conversion,
I felt
led to
deepen
by newly
found
faith at
Franciscan
University
in
Steubenville,
Ohio.
My years
there
were
enlightening
and
spiritually
fruitful.
Having
just
completed
my
Theological
studies
at FUS
this
past
January,
my
husband
and I
recently
moved
back
here to
Pueblo.
My
husband
and I
consider
it a
great
blessing
to be a
part of
this
Parish
community
and we
look
forward
to
getting
to know
each of
you.
Please
pray
that God
will
continue
to
shower
His
blessings
upon our
Parish,
and will
grant us
the
perseverance
to carry
out His
will.
